No, I don't think so. For the people reading this article, in the famous M & R Gazzette, had the rare opportunity to be different than the rest of the bunch when growing up. Let me explain and perhaps you can ascertain the author of this article by the clues contained before reading my name at the bottom.
I always sang, yet was never heard. I knew all the choreography, yet was never seen. I was president of "Pie In The Face" advertising (a subsidiary of M & R Productions). have been on three New Generation tours; on one, being suspected of spending the night with Bonn Hansen in her room in Mazetlon. Know me yet?
I had the dubious honor of escorting a very ill Judy Thomas back to the hotel in Mexico City. Had the joy of sitting center stage in San Jose to watch Diane S. pop up 8 bars too early when performing a number and died laughing when Elliot Abromovitz locked himself in his hotel room in Mexico. Still haven't figured it out?
Was famous for late nights with people like Karen B., Scott J., Sue G., Mr. R., Nancy T., Sandy S., Diane S., and others at homes of Suzy London and Uncle Dicky. By now you must know me. Well, if not, let's give it one more go.
I lived in an apartment with Tommy Trucker, partied hearty at Stacy Blair's house, lived with Greg M., where we both became famous for opening doors in our "drawers", and published a magazine entitled "The Tech Crew Two Brings News To You."
Yes it is I. The short little kid that was never going to grow. The one who ran around setting up ladders, stools, and microphones.
Well, maybe it was a strain on my back to lift and lug equipment, but it was no strain at all to remember only a handful of the thousands of memories that fill my head when I think of those wonderful years I spent with the New Generation.
Yes, when the main man upstairs asks for two reasons why he should let me in, I can answer. One, I was a member of the fabulous New Generation. Two, I sat through numerous showings of Roger McKay's endless slide shows and that's enough purgatory for anyone.
So much for the backward glance. Thanks to every one of you who touched my life in a special way and especially my friend of over 25 years, Rick R., for allowing me to reflect and share with you.
Sincerely,
Henry L. Heller
