The Jim Uhey Volume
October 1998

I received the notice of the reunion a few days ago from my father James D. Uhey who lives in Torrance.  Sorry I was not able to attend.  A lot has happened in my life since those days of singing in the group in 1970 & 71.

I will give you the Readers Digest version.

I was drafted into the military in July of 1972.  Instead of going to Vietnam, I joined the U.S. Coast Guard.  While in the Coast Guard I advanced to E-5 as a Boatswains Mate.  I served in the Presidential Honor Guard and was certified as a Boat Coxswain, Port Safety Inspector, Pollution Investigator and Small Boat Boarding Officer.  While in the Coast Guard I met and married my wife Julie.

Julie and I have been married for 24 years.  We have a daughter Stacie who is 22 and married two and a half years ago.  We also have a 5 year old son Stephen.

Just before our 1st. wedding anniversary, Julie and I became Christians.  We served in our local church as youth pastors and in other positions before moving to Sacramento to attend Bible School.   I completed Bible School in 1984.  Since that time we have served in churches as youth pastors, Christian Education Directors and Senior Pastors.

For the last three and a half years we have served as the Senior Pastors of First Assembly of God in San Jose, Ca.  Before coming to San Jose, we were in Sacramento, Ca.  While in Sacramento, I coached Water Polo and Swimming at Stacie's High School, worked with "at-risk" (gang) kids for five years and served as a chaplain to the Urban Search and Rescue Teams at Oklahoma City.

As I said, much has happened in my life since my days with the New Generation.  Please keep me informed of any other upcoming events with the group.  Please pass my e-mail address on to others within the group who might remember me.
