The Tracie (Thayer) Ireland Volume
September 1998

Hi Everyone!! Tracie Thayer Here!!

I wish that I could be with you all on the 3rd, but previous plans to attend the Kern County Fair in Bakersfield with my family must come first.

What have I been up to for the past 25 - 30 years, well let me see...

I went to Santa Monica College very briefly - Theater Arts Major didn't care for the teachers. Went to Dental Assisting School - didn't like that either.  Got a job at New World Pictures - Roger Corman's company - and stayed for about 15 years.  Worked for Dick Clark Productions, Orion Pictures, stay at home mom, bank teller and am now working for The Automobile Club of So. Calif. (AAA).

I am on my 3rd marriage, that right my 3rd!!  This one however, has lasted the longest, 13 years and counting.  My husband and I have a 13 year old son that we adopted at 20 months old.  My husband being older that I already had 2 grown children of his own , so I felt blessed that he wanted to raise another with me.

I have had more than my share of tragedy throughout these 25 years, I lost my only grandfather in 1982, my brother Todd in 1984, a loss that still hurts me to this day.

I have also lost my 2nd husband, my favorite Aunt, my stepson, my first husband, my best friends son, my own father and my mother in law.  Of all of those people only two have died of old age and natural causes.  I guess that this is one of lifes hardest lessons.  It has, however, taught me to enjoy life to its fullest, for we don't know what tomorrow will bring!

What I remember most about the time I shared with all of you in New Generation is what a great family we were.  We laughed and cried, we sang and danced, we got to where we had to go in cars and buses.  Washed those famous white skirts, our red, white and blue outfits for the George M medley, the ladders, those damn stools, the works.  Was it fun?? You bet, it was the best of times.  How we all came together from different places and some of us from the same.  We were the best family that I have ever been proud to be a part of!!

When my friends at work ask me about what I have done, if I ever sang in a group or performed on stage I tell them about the Ice Cream Socials I was in at my church and about the great time I had in The New Generation.   Then I will break out in song and start to sing... On a wonderful day like today.... Or do my impression of Rosie with - Watch Out - mmmm - I'm coming out.  Who could ever forget??!!

I will miss seeing all of you and hope that you all have a great time, think of me while I'm out in Bakersfield looking at all those cows, pigs, and sheep!!

Keep well,
Love, Tracie
